  • IMED raised its after-tax profit by 11.5% to €14.5 million.

  • The group's first expansion plan will be completed during 2026 with the upcoming openings of new hospitals in Alicante and Barcelona.

Alicante, 6 August 2026.- IMED Hospitales, a private healthcare group founded in the province of Alicante, closed 2025 with revenue of €232 million, a 15% increase compared to 2024, when revenue stood at €204 million. These figures reflect the consolidation of activity across its centres, particularly following the openings of IMED Colón in Valencia and IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta in Murcia, as well as the expansion of IMED Levante in Benidorm, all of which took place during 2024.

With an after-tax profit of €14.5 million, up 11.5% on 2024, the hospital group brought IMED Colón — Valencia's first general hospital located in the city centre — to full operating capacity during financial year 2025. Likewise, the group's first hospital, IMED Levante, nearly doubled its care capacity. Finally, IMED's hospital in Murcia, the first of the group to open outside the Valencian Community, consolidated its position as a leading private centre in the region and became the first private healthcare provider there to introduce Da Vinci robotic surgery.

With more than two decades of history, in 2026 IMED Hospitales will reaffirm its leadership in the private healthcare sector in the Valencian Community and Murcia, where, in addition to its seven general hospitals located in Benidorm, Elche, Burjassot, Valencia, Gandía, Alcoy and Murcia, it will add a new hospital in the city of Alicante. Alongside its hospital network, IMED also operates five polyclinics, located in Teulada, Torrevieja, Gandía, Alcoy and La Vila Joiosa, and a radiotherapy centre in Murcia. This presence across the Mediterranean will be further strengthened in the last quarter of 2026 with the opening of its first hospital in Catalonia, IMED Barcelona (Cornellà).

In addition to the group's expansion and consolidation, another factor behind IMED Hospitales' revenue growth has been the rise in private health insurance policies. In 2025, this type of policy grew by close to 2% across Spain, and in the Valencian Community specifically, 23% of the population now holds private health insurance.

This expansion, combined with a strategy centred on quality, innovation and personalised care, consolidates IMED as the leading private hospital group in eastern Spain (the Levante) and one of the most dynamic in the country.

Care model and investments

During 2025, the group's investment in building new centres and acquiring and upgrading equipment reached €26 million, reaffirming its commitment to both expansion and providing patients with the latest healthcare technology.

On the care front, in 2025 IMED's centres treated more than 500,000 patients, performed 59,000 surgical procedures, managed more than 100,000 inpatient stays and handled more than 3 million medical consultations. As a result, by the end of 2025 IMED surpassed 2.8 million patient records opened over the hospital group's 21-year history.

IMED Hospitales' workforce exceeded 3,000 professionals by the end of 2025, more than two-thirds of whom are women. In addition, IMED Valencia became the first private hospital in the Valencian Community to host medical residents (MIR), after being awarded two training posts by the Ministry of Health in the specialties of Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation, and Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology. Building on this, IMED is working to expand its resident training offer to other specialties, such as Radiology, Paediatrics and Internal Medicine, and to other centres such as IMED Elche, which has also already received accreditation from the Ministry of Health.

As part of its transformation strategy, IMED Hospitales launched a new version of its patient app, designed to streamline and simplify the relationship between patients and the hospital by integrating technology throughout the entire care journey: before, during and after each appointment.

IMED Hospitales also achieved high-level certification under Spain's National Security Framework (ENS) in 2025, a milestone that reinforces the group's position as a benchmark in data protection and regulatory compliance.

The group's vision is to build and continually improve a private healthcare model that becomes a national benchmark, standing out for its focus on quality and excellence in patient care. In this respect, in 2025 IMED Hospitales once again placed 6 of its hospitals on the list of Spain's 100 best-reputed private hospitals, according to MERCO, reinforcing the group's national visibility and its position in the private healthcare sector. The hospitals recognised were IMED Colón, IMED Valencia, IMED Levante, IMED Elche, IMED Gandía and IMED San Jorge.

New projects and outlook

With a combined investment of close to €140 million, the group plans to complete construction of its new centres in Alicante and Barcelona (Cornellà) during 2026, adding around 240 new hospital beds.

In the coming weeks, the group expects to open IMED Alicante, a state-of-the-art general hospital spanning 30,000 m², with 98 rooms, 14 operating theatres, an ICU, more than 100 outpatient consultation rooms, and the latest generation of robotic surgery across various medical specialties. Total investment in the hospital has amounted to approximately €65 million.

Similarly, by year-end the group expects to complete construction of its first hospital in Catalonia, IMED Barcelona, a facility of more than 30,000 m² with 144 rooms, 19 operating theatres and more than 50 outpatient consultation rooms.
