IMED Hospitales: private healthcare group in Alicante, Valencia and Murcia
IMED Hospitales is a private healthcare group that currently has six general hospitals, five polyclinics, a radiotherapy oncology centre and an advanced diagnostic imaging centre. Its centres are located in the cities of Benidorm, Teulada, Elche, Torrevieja, Valencia, Gandía, Alcoy, Villajoyosa, Murcia and Alicante.

History
The origins of the IMED Hospitales lie in the city of Benidorm. In June 2004, the Hospital de Levante (now IMED Levante) was inaugurated to meet the growing demand for quality private healthcare services in the Marina Baixa region. The centre quickly achieved high activity levels and established itself as a benchmark for private healthcare in the entire province. Following this success, the decision to expand and create a reference hospital group in the region was made.
In 2009, the Hospital de Levante was renamed into IMED Levante Hospital , and the group's expansion was planned. In 2009, IMED Teulada opened its doors, providing comprehensive coverage in the northern part of the province with a full range of specialties, diagnostic imaging services, physiotherapy, and medical emergencies.
At the end of 2011, IMED established itself as the hospital group with the largest presence in the province of Alicante by opening its second hospital in Elche. Until then, the third largest city in the Valencian Community did not have a first-class private healthcare infrastructure. In February 2014, IMED Torrevieja polyclinicbegan its activity, following the Teulada scheme. This centre brings IMED's services closer to the southern area of the province of Alicante, completing the coverage in this area.
At the beginning of 2017, IMED Valencia hospital was inaugurated and quickly became the flagship of the Group. IMED’s expansion into the Valencian capital showcases the success of a healthcare model born and developed in our country, thriving due to the dedication and efforts of all its workers.
In 2019, IMED expanded its presence in the Valencia region with the opening of IMED Gandía Hospital. Due to the excellent reception of this centre, it was decided to invest in a second facility in the capital of La Safor, leading to the opening of IMED Gandía Polyclinic in 2021.
In 2020, IMED expanded beyond the Valencian Community for the first time by opening the IMED Murcia Radiotherapy Oncology Centre. This specialised facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology for advanced radiotherapy cancer treatments.
In 2022, IMED lands in the city of Alcoy with the opening of a polyclinic and the refurbishment of the Sanatorio San Jorge Hospital to make it into the new IMED San Jorge Hospital.
In 2024, the first hospital located in the centre of Valencia, IMED Colón, opened its doors. At the end of the year, the IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta Hospital opened its doors in Murcia.
Today, IMED stands as a well-established project, looking towards the future while having successfully overcome numerous challenges throughout its history.
