The Unit of attention to the traveller and tropical diseases of IMED Hospitals, is a highly specialised care space that offers personalised health care services, vaccines (international), prevention of infectious diseases, recommendations and health advice to people who plan to travel to countries where there is endemic risk of tropical diseases.

What does the medical consultation before the trip include?
Comprehensive advice on the preparation of a medical record with vaccination schedule.
Prescription of vaccines for subsequent administration at the hospital.
Information on the prevention of diseases transmitted by arthropods, via the digestive tract, skin or mucous membranes.
Provision of information and preparation of a first aid kit which will include: prophylactic medication, medication for cures, antiseptics, analgesics...
Information on the location and telephone numbers of places of interest (hospitals, embassies, etc.).
Recommendations for clothing, footwear, form of protection, (light clothes with full coverage, sun protection,) food with the requirements of pasteurisation and drinking water.
You will be informed of possible risk/danger situations (altitude sickness, jet lag, etc.).

Medical consultation upon return from the trip
Consultations will be offered after the trip and risk exposures associated with it, symptomatic patient or with suspicion of infectious/tropical disease, taking a complete medical history, details of the trip, activities carried out. It also consults patients originating from tropical countries and long-stay travellers, even asymptomatic. Preferential attention will be given to those who present febrile symptoms or other symptoms.
What does the medical consultation include on return from the trip?
Assessment of pathology imported during the trip: fever on return from the tropics, traveller's diarrhoea and skin lesions.
Assessment of hospitalisation.
